There are a few steps to transfer an Android App from the Google Play store.

This allows customers that already have the previous App installed to update seamlessly to our App retaining your user base.

Transfer the App in your Play Store console

1)Login to your Google Play Console
2)Search for 'transfer apps to a different developer'.
You will need our developer account email and google wallet ID to initiate the transfer. Please contact sales for this information.

3)Provide the keystore file, key alias, and passwords.
Google Play uses a 'signing' key to authenticate App updates. The first time an App is uploaded to the Play Store, this key is stored by Google and must be used to sign App updates.
The keystore password and alias is traditionally changed in the keystore file to avoid providing security-related information to the new developer account (RTS in this case). This can be accomplished using the java keytool application.

Change Password

  • keytool -storepasswd -keystore YOUR.keystore

Change Alias Password

  • keytool -keypasswd -keystore YOUR.keystore -alias OLD-ALIAS

Change Alias

  • keytool -changealias -keystore YOUR.keystore -alias OLD_ALIAS -destalias NEW_ALIAS

Example of changing keystore.
